Ukraine could use a modified Cessna-Forbes plane to attack Tatarstan

Ukraine could have used a modified Cessna-type light aircraft to attack the Shahed production plant in Russian Tatarstan. It could be filled with explosives and remote controls added.

Such a conclusion was reached in the American edition Forbes.

As the publication notes, Ukrainian engineers have developed at least 16 different types of long-range strike drones — presumably with satellite control and GPS guidance. They could also turn a light plane into a drone.

At the same time, back in 2019, the research laboratory of the US Air Force worked with the DZYNE Technologies company from Virginia on the modification of a Cessna 206 into a drone. The classic Cessna 172 can carry half a ton of cargo up to 1,126 kilometers.

In addition to the fact that a drone based on a light aircraft is cheap, simple and reliable, it is also inconspicuous, the journalists note – not because of its high-tech form and coating, but because of its “innocence”.

The publication reminds that in 1987, a West German teenager flew a Cessna 172 to Moscow and landed on Red Square. A pair of Soviet fighters briefly headed toward the Cessna, but at least one radar operator on the ground registered the plane as “friendly” and ignored it.

It will be recalled that on April 2, Ukraine attacked an oil refinery and a factory for the production of Iranian Shahed drones in Tatarstan, Russia.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence noted that Ukraine did not use foreign weapons during the attacks on the facilities in Yelabuz and Nizhnyokamsk.
