“Any changes in tariffs at the peak of growth are difficult and forced decisions. While the government and NEURC are working out issues to understand how much the tariff should be increased. But you still have to make such a decision, otherwise the energy system will not be able not only to recover, but also to prepare for next winter, which can be much more difficult than the previous one,” Safarov said.
The Deputy Minister also noted that assistance will be provided for vulnerable categories of the population so that they can pay for electricity. Sources of financing may be revenues from electricity exports and financial assistance from partners, which are currently being negotiated.
Safarov added that international partners are also supporting the renewal of the Ukrainian energy sector.
Ukraine has already received 150 million euros from the EU for the energy support fund and a 200 million grant from the World Bank. But, according to him, these resources are not enough.
