Ukraine Considers Lowering Draft Age With Proposed Amendment

A draft law on amending the law “On military duty and military service” has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.

The bill on amendments to the law of Ukraine “On military duty and military service” provides for a reduction in the age limit for citizens to be on military registration of conscripts from 27 to 25 years of age.

The introduction of such amendments was initiated by the Ministry of Defense together with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They explained that during the legal regime of martial law, there is no need for citizens to stay on the military register of conscripts under 27 years of age.
