The port, which was recently occupied by Russian troops with several warship Russia at the docks, rocked by a series of massive explosions just after dawn.
According to reports from the port by Russian media outlets, several ships have unloaded military equipment in Berdyansk in recent days.
Videos on social media showed fires blazing at the docks, with a series of secondary explosions reverberating across the city.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces said they had destroyed a large landing craft, which they named “Orsk” in a Facebook post.
The Ukrainian armed forces said that in addition to destroying the Orsk, two more ships were damaged.
“A 3,000 tonne fuel tank was also destroyed. The fire spreads to the enemy’s ammunition depot. The details of the damage inflicted on the invaders are being clarified,” the Ukrainian military said CNN.
