Ukraine Calls Putin ‘Spit’ in Erdoan and UN Secretary General’s Face

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The agreement between Russia and Ukraine regarding the opening of export routes in the Black Sea is in danger of collapsing.

The reason is, shortly after the agreement was ‘tied up’ in Istanbul, Turkey, Russia launched an attack on the Odesa Port in Ukraine. The port became an important point of export of Ukrainian commodities such as grain and wheat.

It also infuriated Ukraine. They felt that Russia had toyed with the agreement.

Meanwhile, shortly after the attack on the Ukrainian Embassy in Ankara, he immediately posted a statement regarding this matter.

The following is the full statement of the Ukrainian Embassy in Istanbul, as quoted by The GuardianSaturday (23/7/2022).

“It took less than 24 hours for the Russian Federation to launch a missile attack on the port of Odesa to question the agreements and promises made to the United Nations and Turkey in the documents signed in Istanbul yesterday.

The Russian missiles fired at Odesa were basically like Vladimir Putin’s spit thrown in the faces of UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Turkish President Recep Erdoğan, who made great efforts to reach a deal that Ukraine is grateful for.

Ukraine stressed the need for strict implementation of agreements on the renewal of safe exports of Ukrainian agricultural products from three ports (Odesa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhnoye) across the Black Sea.

We call on the United Nations and Turkey to ensure that Russia fulfills its obligations within the framework of the safe operation of the wheat corridor.

Russia will take full responsibility for the deepening of the global food crisis if the agreements reached are not met.”
