The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly criticized Western experts who have described the counter-offensive as slow-moving and without expected breakthroughs along the front. In June, Zelenskyy stressed that the bloody battle to break through reinforced Russian defense lines is not “a Hollywood movie” and that people’s lives are at stake.
But on Friday the White House said that the Ukrainians had made noticeable progress in the Zaporizhzhya region. Russian military blogs wrote the day before that Ukrainian forces have advanced near the village of Verbove in southern Ukraine, not far from the village of Robotyne.
