Ukraine bombs the Kherson Dam with US advanced missiles

KIEV – Military Ukraine On Sunday it bombed the dam at the Kakhovskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP) in Kherson with several US-made advanced missiles.

According to local emergency services, the attack damaged one of the gates.

Kherson was one of the four annexed Ukrainian territories Russia recently. The region became a fierce battlefield when Kiev’s forces attempted to recapture the region.

Kherson Emergency Services said Kiev forces used advanced missiles launched by HIMARS [High Mobility Artillery Rocket System] American supply.

At least six missiles bombed the dam around 10:00 local time. Five of them were intercepted by Russian air defense systems, but one managed to escape.

“The Ukrainian armed forces have not given up on their efforts to destroy the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam and create the conditions for a humanitarian catastrophe,” said the state news agency Kherson Emergency Services. RIA NovostiMonday (7/11/2022).

Local authorities later clarified that the missile did not cause critical damage.

In recent weeks, Moscow has accused Kiev of attempting various attacks on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam, located on the Dnieper River, upstream from the city of Kherson.

Last month, Russian authorities began relocating civilians from cities and areas on the right bank of the Dnieper.
