Ukraine has requested a new batch of weapons from the United States of America, including ATACMS missile systems with a range of up to 300 kilometers. About this Monday 12 September he writes The Wall Street newspaper with reference to the relative document presented to the US legislator.
The document lists dozens of types of weapons that the Ukrainian military needs to continue the counter-offensive in 2023.
“Among them is the Army’s ATACMS tactical missile system, which the administration of US President Joe Biden previously refused to provide,” the statement read.
In total, the list of Ukrainian requirements for offensive operations includes 29 types of weapons and ammunition systems. These include tanks, drones, artillery systems, Harpoon anti-ship missiles and 2,000 missiles for Himars.
The flight speed of the ATACMS missile is one and a half kilometers per second, while the missile can maneuver in the air and create so-called traps for enemy air defense systems. It is extremely difficult to shoot down such a target, and it is also almost impossible to tell from radar which missile is flying. In this case, the allowable deviation from the target at the maximum distance is between 10 and 50 meters. Russia does not have weapons with such accuracy and reach.
