Ukraine asks FIFA to remove Iran from the 2022 World Cup

Kiev

The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) calls for the removal of Iran World Cup 2022. This app is why Iran considered useful Russia and violate human rights.

Iran qualified for the 2022 World Cup as a representative of Asia. They joined Group B in the event which was held in Qatar. Iran will compete with England, the United States and Wales.

But before this event starts in late November, the pressure for FIFA to exclude Iran from the 2022 World Cup is strong. This is because the Iranian government is believed to have committed many human rights violations.

The Iranian agency of human rights activists (HRANA) reported that 284 people during the massive protests took place in the country. In Iran, protests continue triggered by the death of a woman, Mahsa Amini, when she was arrested by the police for wearing the hijab incorrectly.

More recently, the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) also asked FIFA to ban Iran from participating in the tournament World Cup 2022. In addition to human rights violations, Iran is also believed to have helped Russia in the war with Ukraine. Russia itself is currently still banned from participating in the FIFA event.

Quoted by the BBC, the UAF executive committee met on Monday (31/10) with the agreement to make a request to FIFA to consider banning the Iranian national team from participating in the 2022 World Cup.

The actions taken by the Iranian government are considered contrary to the spirit promoted by FIFA. Several replacement country names have been widely discussed even as Iran is removed from the 2022 World Cup.

Several parties had asked Ukraine to replace Iran. War-affected Ukraine failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup after losing to Wales playoff.
