Ukraine and Poland have agreed to suspend grain exports from Ukraine to Poland. About it April 7 informed press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine on Facebook.
The agreements were reached during a meeting between the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Mykola Solsky and the newly appointed Minister Agriculture and development of rural areas in Poland Robert Telus.
“The situation is difficult for the Ukrainian farmer, but it is obvious for the Polish one as well. We all understand who is to blame, but it is up to us to resolve this issue. The possibility of transit through the territory of Poland to other EU member states and third countries is preserved, the transit procedure will be simplified for elimination of idle transport and queues at checkpoints,” Solsky said.
He clarified that Ukraine suspends export to Poland of four crops: wheat, corn, sunflower and rapeseed.
“The Ukrainian side understands our problems and agreed to our proposals to seriously reconsider the issue of grain imports to Poland… stop for now grain supply to Poland. We are not talking about transit,” said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Polandquotes Polsat News .
He added that both sides would be very careful not to leave any grain in Poland.
Next week, representatives of Ukraine and Poland will meet again to sign the relevant documents.
