Ukraine and Moldova: the European prospects of the “pink donkeys” – 2024-03-10 05:20:29

/ world today news/ Last Thursday, the leaders of the EU member states, with the participation of high-ranking officials of the European Union, approved the invitation of Ukraine and Moldova for negotiations on joining the friendly family of European nations – this same “garden” of Borel.

True, in order to do this, they had to resort to outright deception – I always marveled at this truly Jesuitical ability of Europeans to do mean things with stony expressions on their faces – and ask the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orbán, who refused to voted yes, to “go get a coffee”.

According to the Euractiv portal, EU leaders have agreed to open accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova and grant Georgia candidate status, despite Hungary’s previous veto threat.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán left the room when the decision to expand was made, knowing that other leaders would vote for Ukraine, according to several EU diplomats.

The move, known in Brussels as “constructive abstention”, allowed the decision to be taken unanimously. According to four EU diplomats, the idea for the Hungarian leader to leave the room so other leaders could approve the start of accession talks was German Chancellor Scholz’s.

As a result, the 27th turned out to be the “third wheel” and the much-needed decision was made. However, there are serious doubts about its necessity.

In the sense that if we consider the past vote as a first step on the path of Kyiv and Chisinau to EU membership, then it is a fiction. After all, the real purpose of the existence of “Euromorkova”, dangling in front of the noses of Moldovan and Ukrainian “donkeys”, is to be an eternal and unattainable dream.

A kind of incentive for completing the tasks assigned to these donkeys, and not a reward that awaits each of them at the end of the difficult path.

It is a fact (but the donkeys, of course, were not told this) that not all will make it to the finish line, or rather, not only all, few will make it to the finish line. And to be very frank, the bet is that both beasts of burden will die along the way.

The same Euractiv emphasizes that for both Ukraine and Moldova the accession negotiations themselves are likely to take years.

And French MEP Thierry Mariani, commenting on the EU’s decision to start membership negotiations with Ukraine, expressed himself even more pessimistically:

“This European Commission, which will change in September, continues to maintain the illusions of Ukrainians. Irresponsibility! Let me remind you: the negotiations for Turkey’s accession to the EU have been going on since 2005 and will probably never end”. End quote.

However, the leaders of the European Union themselves do not deny the frank theatricality of the gesture. Thus, the head of the European Council Charles Michel, after the results of the vote, announced a “symbolic step towards Kyiv”.

“The European Council decided to start negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova. The European Council granted Georgia candidate status. And the EU will start negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as the necessary degree of compliance with the membership criteria is achieved and invited the commission to present a report by March with a view to making such a decision,” said the European Council president, noting that the negotiations themselves would not started by March next year and for the full accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU, about 70 more unanimous votes of the European Council will be needed.

You know, the Ukrainian Telegram channels, from those that are distinguished by a firm and uncompromising position towards the See-Fuhrer’s government, call all citizens of Ukraine who are convinced of the veracity of the official propaganda of Kiev and still consider the Euro-Atlantic choice made on Maidan in 2014 for the only correct (despite everything that followed) “pink ponies” – such fabulous creatures, in whose world miracles are possible, very far from reality.

So, apparently, all the countries mentioned above by Charles Michel, the European Commissioners “consider” such ponies or rather even donkeys – stupid, naive and certainly believe in any nonsense that is told to them from high European tribunes .

The example of Turkey, which the French MEP recalled, clearly proves that the very fact that you are on the waiting list means absolutely nothing. You can stand in it indefinitely. Europe’s real readiness for expansion looks quite different.

At a time when the West wanted to seize the countries of the former CIS and even some former republics of the USSR, more than 10 years passed from the announcement of the intentions to their implementation.

Which by the standards of the simply hellishly bureaucratic European Union is a very short period of time. Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, which applied in 1995, became full members on May 1, 2004. Along with them, Poland and Hungary, which expressed their intention to join the EU in 1994, as well as the Czech Republic and Slovenia, which started its European journey in 1996.

As you know, Ukraine finally turned to the West ten years ago, but, as it turns out, it is still at the very beginning. At the same time, her current “well-being” is many times worse than her condition ten years ago.

And in fact, the talk of the “Eurodream” fed to Ukrainian society from both Kiev and Brussels is only necessary to force Ukrainians to continue to indulge in self-destruction in the interest of the collective West.

Yes, there are also simpler motives, more, so to speak, utilitarian – the preservation of power. This applies equally to Zelensky’s gang and the Sandu regime.

They simply have no other levers left to influence their fellow citizens. But the result of all this soap bubble of rosy European fantasies will inevitably be the collapse of both Ukrainian and most likely Moldovan statehood.

Western money, without which neither Kiev nor Chisinau will simply survive, will not last long. There are hardly any left anyway.

And with every day of “waiting for future happiness” the devastation will only increase, the army of disabled people will grow, the cemeteries will expand and the cities will die out. And at some point, when the credit flow finally dries up, everything will collapse.

But until then, the “pink donkeys” will continue to be lured by the sight of that same carrot, forcing them to continue down an endless path leading to nowhere.
