The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) temporarily stops vaccinating employees. The already promised dates for Monday were also canceled at short notice, according to information from NDR 90.3.
According to the clinic, the reason is that it does not receive a new delivery with corona vaccine. The UKE is mad at the social authority. “We do not understand that the new vaccine that has already been promised will not be delivered at short notice,” the UKE wrote in a circular to its employees.
Social authority rejects allegations
The social services authority does not understand the excitement and rejects the allegations: The Hamburg hospitals would continue to receive between 1,000 and 3,000 vaccine doses per week. More was not initially possible and more was not promised. Because at the Corona summit in Berlin it was decided last week to increase the speed of vaccinations in nursing homes – all homes in Germany should be vaccinated by mid-February.
According to the social authorities, Hamburg only managed a third of this. That means: the hospitals have to be patient because the vaccine is scarce. The authorities do not expect supplies until the end of the month.

UKE boss: “Hamburg has to get better”
The second approved vaccine from Moderna is also in short supply – the city is expecting a delivery this month, but it will also be small for the time being, according to a spokesman for the authorities. UKE boss Burkhard Göke had criticized the city days ago and wrote on Twitter: “Hamburg needs to get better” with vaccinations.
It remains unclear whether the authorities have really promised delivery of the vaccine for Monday, as the UKE writes. According to its own information, the social welfare authority has no knowledge of this. According to official information, around 1,500 people in Hamburg are vaccinated against the corona virus every day.
On Monday, people over 80 cannot get a vaccination appointment in Hamburg. This has been declared by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. more
