UK – Wanted to win the lottery

Danyal Hussein (19) has been sentenced to 35 years in prison in Britain after killing sisters Nicole Smallman (27) and Bibaa Henry (47).

The 19-year-old believed the killings would serve as a “victim” to a “demon” he called “the mighty King Lucifuge Rofocale”, according to The Guardian.

He was allegedly convinced that he had made a pact, and that by killing random women he could win the main prize in the Lotto game Mega Millions Super Jackpot.

Entered into deadly “covenant”

The two sisters were stabbed in Wembley park in June last year, according to the British newspaper Wales Online.

Hussein is said to have stabbed the eldest sister eight times, while the youngest sister was stabbed 28 times because she fought back.

He then dragged their bodies 75 meters away from the scene, into a wooded area in the park, where they lay for 36 hours before they were discovered, writes The Guardian.

Police found Hussain using DNA traces on the knife left at the scene.

This week, Hussein appeared in court in England. The 19-year-old has not wanted to contribute any explanation to the trial, as he denies that he is responsible for the killings.

Sentenced to 35 years

On Thursday, Hussain was found guilty of the two murders, and is sentenced to 35 years in prison, according to The Guardian.

– You committed these evil attacks. You did it to kill. You did it for money, and in a misunderstood search for money, Judge Philippa Whipple said according to The Guardian.

The judge described the killings as calculated and planned.

She stressed that while it may seem bizarre for others to make a covenant with the devil, this was Hussain’s belief. He pleaded guilty to killing innocent women, Whipple pointed out in court.

– No family should have to experience this, she said.

Reduced penalties

Because Hussein is under 21, Judge Whipple could not give him a full life sentence. According to the judge, a normal minimum sentence for such a serious criminal act would be 37 years.

The judge chose to reduce the sentence due to Hussein’s age.

Hussein should have a diagnosis in the autism spectrum. However, the judge decided to proceed with the case and not consider evidence of possible undiagnosed disorder or psychopathy as a mitigating circumstance, because the 19-year-old has refused to contribute to such an evaluation.

Hussein will not be able to get a parole until at least 35 years have passed, and according to the judge, this will only be possible if he “at this time is no longer a danger to the public”.
