Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, it was down 0.08%.
The best performers of the session were Rolls-Royce Holdings plc (LON:), which rose 6.21% or 15.10 points to trade at 258.30 at the close. At the same time, EasyJet (LON:) rose 4.00% (16.20 points) to end at 421.20; B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:) rose 2.51% (13.80 points) to 564.60 in late trade.
The worst performing stocks on the market were Burberry (LON:), which fell 3.32% (50.00 points) to close at 1,454.00. ITV (LON:) fell 2.73% (1.68 points) to end at 59.84; Prudential Group (LON:) fell 2.58% (23.40 points) at the close, quoted at 885.40.
1,012 stocks on the London Stock Exchange fell, which exceeded the number of stocks that closed higher – 621. At the same time, 467 stocks did not rise or fall, which was basically the same.
Rolls-Royce Holdings plc (LON: ) shares rose to three-year highs; up 6.21% or 15.10 points to 258.30. Burberry (LON:) shares fell to three-year lows, losing 3.32% or 50.00 points to 1,454.00.
The price of the gold futures December options contract rose 1.39% (28.05 points) to $2,040.45. For the rest of the futures, the price of WTI crude oil futures contract for January delivery increased by 2.56% (1.92 points), quoted at US$76.78, while the February London Brent crude oil futures contract rose by 2.35% (1.88), and the trading price was US$81.75.
GBP/USD rose 0.67%, with an exchange rate of 1.27; at the same time, EUR/GBP remained basically unchanged at 0.20%, with a quote of 0.87.
U.S. dollar index futures fell 0.52% to 102.56.
