In an interview with The TelegraphTruss said President Vladimir Putin determined to create a greater Russia despite losing in Kiev, the Capital Ukraine .
Moldova, in southwestern Ukraine, is not a member NATO and there are concerns that the country could become Putin’s next target after Ukraine as he seeks territorial expansion.
Truss said talks were ongoing to ensure that not only Ukraine but Moldova’s defenses were “NATO standards” to prevent future attacks.
“I would like to see Moldova equipped to NATO standards. This is a discussion we have with our allies,” Truss said.
“Putin is very clear about his ambition to create a greater Russia – and just because his attempt to seize Kiev doesn’t work, that doesn’t mean he’s abandoned those ambitions.” ).

If the plan is adopted, members of the NATO military alliance will provide Moldova with modern weaponry, replace its Soviet-era equipment, and train the country’s soldiers on how to use it.
The move would be an expansion of British military support in the region and a further indication that they see the invasion of Ukraine as a long-term turning point.
