The British Defense Ministry has analyzed that Russian forces are building a defense line up to 60km behind the current front in preparation for a breakthrough by Ukrainian troops. It was noted that some of the forces retreating from southern Kherson would be redeployed to eastern Donetsk Oblast.
The British Ministry of Defense said in a daily intelligence report on the 18th (local time) that “Russian forces continue to regroup, reorganize and prepare defenses in most of Ukraine after the withdrawal from the west bank of the river (Kherson )”.
“The unit has built new trenches near the border of the Crimean peninsula and along the Sibersky Donetsk River between Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” he said, suggesting we are preparing.
“There is a possibility that Russia may try to redeploy some of its troops withdrawn from Kherson in the vicinity of the village of Bakhmut in Donetsk province to strengthen and expand its offensive,” he predicted.
