In this document, the United Kingdom Department of Defense reportedly asked for an “express of interest” in providing strike assets with a range of up to 300 kilometers. The notice asked for a response within 3 days.

The publication, citing a British official, writes that no final decision has been made. However, the notification is an essential step towards having the UK itself supply such munitions. It is also reported that the requested characteristics correspond to the Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles.

The Washington Post recalls that Ukraine has long been asking Western countries for longer-range missiles, arguing that such weapons could change the course of the war, allowing Ukrainian forces to hit Russian command centers, supply lines, ammunition and fuel depots deep in Crimea and in temporarily occupied territory. in the east of Ukraine.

The publication notes that as Kyiv prepares to launch a major counteroffensive in the next few weeks, the ability to strike far behind the Russian front line will help clear the way for a ground offensive by tanks and infantry.

It is reported that Storm Shadows can be installed on Soviet-made Ukrainian jets. Such missiles can reach Russian territory. At the same time, Kyiv promises the West not to use donor weapons for strikes against Russia.

Fears that Ukraine will fire missiles at targets in Russia is a key reason why the US has repeatedly turned down Kyiv’s requests for US long-range munitions.
