The United Kingdom is granting more than 100 new oil and gas licenses to companies for the extraction of fuels in the North Sea. The British government wants to become more energy independent in this way.
According to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the move is in line with the government’s objectives. “Now more than ever it is vital that we strengthen our energy security and capitalize on that independence to deliver more affordable, clean energy to UK homes and businesses.”
In addition, two new carbon capture and storage facilities are being set up in North East Scotland and England’s Humber region, which is home to three major ports: Hull, Grimsby and Immingham.
