UK digital sales nearly doubled on Black Friday

That the digital market is booming is no mystery. The benefits are many, not only for gamers but also for publishers who have the facility to bring their games to users’ homes without leaving their living room sofa.

This has clearly been enhanced by the pandemic that is unfortunately hitting the entire planet. It is perhaps this ease of purchase and the mobility restrictions that many countries have imposed, which has resulted in a tremendous formula for selling digital games.

Digital sales don’t stop growing

In an industry that moves so many millions of dollars, it is not surprising that these phenomena are viewed with a magnifying glass to learn from the data and improve more and more marketing actions. The last we know is that in the United Kingdom sales in this format are almost 50% higher than the same period last year.

As reported GamesIndustryNot only have digital sales grown; but physical format sales fell about 20% compared to the same period of the previous year. Although that if, beyond some surprise, the list is not very disruptive. These are the top-selling games for the week of Black Friday that ended on November 28.

  1. Football Manager 2021.
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
  3. FIFA 21.
  4. Grand Theft Auto 5.
  5. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
  6. Watch Dogs Legion.
  7. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
  8. Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
  9. Rainbow Six Siege.
  10. God of War.

Keep in mind that these data are inaccurate and that they serve more to measure trends than to be taken as a total scale. For example, some publishers such as Nintendo, Microsoft or Bethesda do not provide digital sales data.
