UK Condemns Russia’s Use of North Korean Ballistic Missiles in Ukraine – Calls for Action

The UK has condemned Russia’s decision to use ballistic missiles sourced from North Korea in recent attacks on Ukraine.

As European Pravda writes, a representative of the British Foreign Ministry stated this.

“The UK strongly condemns the Russian Federation’s decision to use ballistic missiles from North Korea in recent attacks against Ukraine. We call on the DPRK to stop supplying weapons to the Russian Federation,” the statement said.

A representative of the British Foreign Office recalled that North Korea is subject to a strict sanctions regime. He noted that London will continue to work with its partners to ensure that the DPRK pays a high price for supporting Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine.

The United States convened the UN Security Council because Russia received missiles from the DPRK

Russia is turning to North Korea for weapons in pursuit of its cynical and ill-conceived military goals in Ukraine. This is a symptom of its isolation on the world stage and a sign of its desperation. Moreover, this activity violates numerous UN Security Council resolutions, which the Russian Federation has supported as a permanent member organization,” the statement also says.

The British Foreign Office notes that any support for North Korea’s illegal armed programs risks significantly undermining the UN’s long-term commitment to security and leading to further destabilization in the region.

Earlier, White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby noted that the United States has evidence that Russia received ballistic missiles from North Korea and their launch in Ukraine, as well as negotiations between Moscow and Tehran on obtaining similar weapons, about which media also wrote.

It was reported that the United States preparing additional sanctions against individuals involved in the transfer of military aid to Russia from North Korea and Iran, in particular ballistic missiles.

Let us recall that in December Russia and Iran signed a declaration in which promised to resist together Western sanctions.
