“UK Children Outpace Inflation with Rise in Pocket Money: Study Finds”

In the UK, children often get pocket money from their parents when they are young (not me though, thanks mom and dad). This could be a few digits per week or payment for chores around the house.

While most kids aren’t getting much money, they’re clearly trying to beat inflation, according to GuardianA new study reported. On average, young people in the UK are earning around 11% more than they did last year, outpacing inflation.

Six-year-olds get the biggest raises, as their wages increase by as much as 34 percent, but for older children, jobs like babysitting pay an average of 24 percent more. Overall, pocket money habits have become less consistent across the country, with only 57 per cent of children receiving a regular allowance. But young people in the UK appear to be busy making money as they work odd jobs around the house and even smile in family portraits.
