Plague bird flu which are highly pathogenic have been reported to appear in English and Poland on Monday (8/11). An outbreak of H5 bird flu was found in a small livestock unit in central England, the local livestock ministry confirmed.
All poultry in the area that has been exposed, near Alcester in Warwickshire, will be destroyed.
The outbreak comes less than a week after Britain declared a national Avian Flu Prevention Zone, ordering livestock and bird owners to tighten biosecurity measures.
The H5N1 strain has also previously been confirmed in backyard chicken flocks in north Wales, among birds caught in eastern Scotland and in bird rescue centers in central England.
On the same day, Poland also reports several outbreaks bird flu H5N1 is highly pathogenic on farms with a total of nearly 650,000 poultry, according to the World Animal Health Organization (OIE).
As reported AFP, Poland is the largest poultry producer in the European Union.
The five bird flu outbreaks that occurred, four of them on fattening turkey farms and one on broiler farms, were found in the eastern part of the country.
Others, the OIE said, were found on turkey and goose farms in the west of the country.
Bird flu, which is most often carried from one country to another by migratory wild birds, has spread rapidly in Europe.
The virus has spread across Europe over the past few weeks with outbreaks in several countries including France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark.
This has raised concerns in the poultry industry after previous outbreaks led to the culling of tens of millions of poultry and restrictions on international trade.
On Friday, the French government put its country on high alert for bird flu, expanding requirements to keep all flocks indoors.
The ruling comes after Dutch authorities also ordered commercial farms to keep all livestock inside last month, after bird flu was reported on a farm.
