TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) said that since receiving information about the disappearance UII Lecturer (Indonesian Islamic University) Yogyakarta, Ahmad Munasir Rafie Pratamain Turkey, his party has sought information from various local authorities.
Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha said that all information developments obtained had been conveyed to the Chancellor of UII and also the Chairperson of Muhamadiyah, to then be conveyed to the family.
“In order to respect privacy and at the request of the family, information is only conveyed to the family through the UII Chancellor,” said Judha Tempo on Sunday 19 February 2023.
He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian Representatives were ready to provide further assistance if needed by the family and UII.
Through a short message via the WhatsApp application, Munasir’s wife stated that her husband last communicated while still in Oslo, Norway on February 12, 2023.
Previously, the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Muhammad Iqbal, stated that there were still many possibilities regarding the whereabouts of Ahmad Munasir Rafie Pratama.
“It is not even certain whether the person concerned is still in Oslo or already in Istanbul,” said Iqbal.
Even so, Iqbal dismissed the possibility that the UII lecturer would become a victim of the Turkish earthquake which had claimed tens of thousands of lives. This is because Munasir is scheduled to arrive there on February 12, 2023.
“While the earthquake occurred on February 6,” he said.
The whereabouts of the UII (Indonesian Islamic University of Indonesia) Yogyakarta lecturer who disappeared on his way back to Indonesia, Ahmad Munasir Rafie Pratama, is still unknown. Reported by the uii.ac.id page, Ahmad is a lecturer in the Informatics Engineering Department of the campus which is located at the foot of Mount Merapi. He is an assistant professor and serves as the secretary of the department.
