ERBER UHK Krems adds the first to Sparkasse Schwaz Handball Tirol right at the start of the bonus round in the spusu LIGA Defeat, the third overall in the course of the season for the Tyroleans.
The Wachau team repeatedly forced the winner of the main round to make technical mistakes, and Ivan Budalic was there several times in goal, especially in the early stages. The guests laid the foundation for the away win with a 4-0 run from 3: 3 to 7: 3. Until the break, the lead increased to six goals and was able to hold it even after changing sides. In the middle of the second half they even managed to score eight goals and finally left Schwaz with two points in their luggage.
The 30:27 victory of ERBER UHK Krems marks the end of the 1st matchday of the spusu LIGA bonus and qualification round. Thanks to the Krems triumph, HC FIVERS WAT Margareten leads the bonus round alone thanks to the derby victory over SG INSIGNIS Handball WESTWIEN. ALPLA HC Hard, who prevailed against SC kelag Ferlach 29:25, and Krems are moving closer to Schwaz.
Bregenz Handball and HSG Holding Graz got off to a successful start in the qualifying round. The record champions from the Ländle are now leading the qualifying round with a small cushion of three points, Graz left the sole red lantern to HC LINZ AG and is only two points behind HSG Remus Bärnbach / Köflach.

Home defeat for Handball Tirol in the first match of the bonus round
False start in the bonus round of the spusu LIGA for Sparkasse Schwaz Handball Tirol: In the Monday evening game, the eagles were defeated by ERBER UHK Krems in the local Osthalle at 27:30 (9:15).
It was clear to everyone that the spusu-LIGA playoff would be a difficult, competitive affair – and it came true on Monday evening in the duel between the main round winner Sparkasse Schwaz Handball Tirol and the double winner of 2019 ERBER UHK Krems; broadcast live on ORF Sport + and LAOLA1. The Adler suffered their third home defeat this season and had to bow to Krems for the first time – after two previous wins. The Lower Austrians shortened the gap to the second-placed Tyroleans (15 bonus points) to two points, but remain in fourth place for the time being. Handball Tirol continues on Saturday at Westwien (8.15 p.m., live on LAOLA1).
In the first few minutes of the game there were hardly any goals, and both sides needed some time to get up to operating temperature. Jakob Jochmann scored the first goal in the fourth minute from the seven-meter line, and shortly afterwards Gerald Zeiner also stayed cool from the point. After six minutes, Petar Medic equalized to 3: 3. Then, however, more and more of the man who was supposed to decide the meeting took place in the limelight. The home side, who competed without Balthasar Huber, failed several times against the Krems goalkeeper Ivan Budalic, whose front men, however, left little behind. So the UHK set to 7: 3 (10th) – and led ten minutes later with 12: 6.
The Tyroleans tried, but were unsuccessful in the attack in the first half, as they had last in the Cup in Hard. Krems, on the other hand, was effective, offered a strong cover and could rely on the outstanding goalkeeper Budalic. At the break, the eagles were behind with 9:15. In the second half it worked much better for the hosts, even if they still missed a lot of chances.
Since ERBER UHK Krems continued to act confidently, Sparkasse Schwaz Handball Tirol did not get any closer at first – the guests even pulled away to 25:17 by the middle of the second section. This mortgage was ultimately too big. Even if the Tyroleans tried everything again in the final quarter of an hour, creating significantly more danger in the attack than in half time and were also able to catch up. However, Krems kept the eagles at a distance until the end and celebrated a well-deserved success in the east hall.
