After winning three games in a row, the UHC’s winning streak in the HLA Challenge North/West (2nd Handball Bundesliga) was broken on Saturday. The Salzburg team had to admit defeat to the Future Team from Linz/Neue Heimat away with 28:29 (15:17).

Although the UHC went into the match against their feared opponents weakened by illnesses and injuries, they kept up well with Linz’s Bundesliga youth from the start. After a quarter of an hour it was still 7:7. Then the hosts pulled away to four goals. Led by Patrick Fuchs, who scored ten goals, Salzburg fought back and even took the lead by 24:23 and later 27:26 in the middle of the second half. After that, Linz scored three times in a row and Timon Glimm’s ninth goal at the final whistle was just not enough to win the point.

“In the first half our game was very mixed, almost every mistake was punished with a counterattack goal and we were rightly behind,” said UHC coach Daniel Röse after the sixth defeat of the season with a difference of four goals or less. “After the break, the boys pulled themselves together more, played with more concentration and created a lot of chances to score – but missed a number of these chances in front of the opponent’s goal. The fight and will were great, but unfortunately in the end it wasn’t about this one goal .”
