UGT receives the main leaders of the Ukrainian unions in Spain – FeSMC – UGT

During this week, the main confederations of trade unions of Ukraine, FPU and KVPU, will visit Spain, at the invitation of the General Union of Workers.

More than two years after the Russian invasion, the situation of the Ukrainian people and its workers is extremely bad, and, if the work of a union is never easy, with the work of the union itself, these two centers will , FPU and KVPU, now sending a humanitarian action. in a country at war.

The heads of the Ukrainian delegation led by the presidents of the two organizations, Gryfgorii Osovy (FPU) and Mykhailo Voylnets (KVPU), will start their journey in Barcelona, to Madrid. During these five days they will meet with various public and government institutions, as well as progressive political parties, with the Management Commission of the UGT Confederation and with representatives of the UGT federations (Servicios Públicos-UGT, FICA-UGT and FESMC-UGT). . Also, they will visit several workplaces. On behalf of the FeSMC-UGT, Pedro Aller, deputy secretary general, and Carmen Donate, secretary of International Relations, were present at the meeting.

UGT expects that Spanish institutions and society will continue to take into account the great consequences that the Ukrainian people suffered as a result of the attack, the result, among others, of the deceptions that ‘ of the Russian oligarchy. A war that makes the working class of both countries suffer even more the increase in the cost of living that resulted from the war, the destruction of infrastructure and homes and, in the end, those who pay with their lives for the effect of an attack that suits their interests a little.

This same week the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) called an international trade union movement calling for urgent cooperation between trade unions worldwide and Ukrainian trade union groups. The ITUC pointed out that “despite the ever-present dangers, Ukrainian unions continue to provide much-needed support to workers and their families.” “They continue to fight against human rights and trade union violations in residential and non-residential areas.”

As a member of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), UGT is obliged to respond to this call, to make the position of the trade union of Ukraine obvious and put the working class and its safety in the main focus of this conflict, thus escaping from discussions or analyzes that understand this attack from a single geopolitical or economic perspective.

UGT will continue to support peace, dialogue and respect for international law. We believe that this trip is a good opportunity to express the reality of the union of Ukraine and the request of public institutions to state the importance of sending workers in any kind of solidarity with Ukraine . In this way we show once again our commitment to the forces of the union and working classes who are being attacked illegally and unfairly by foreign powers.
