“Ugh – it smells bad!”: Dr. Myasnikov named a sign indicating hidden diseases – it’s worth checking yourself

The doctor mentioned the results of the examination

A famous Russian doctor Alexander Myasnikov in his Telegram channel he reported that people with a reduced sense of smell have a 2.5 times greater risk of “weakness” than people with a normal sense of smell. By “weakness,” the doctor means that he is more susceptible to stressful situations.

The expert referred to research results published in JAMA Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery. The experiment involved 10,600 volunteers with an average age of around 63 years.

Scientists have linked age-related weakness to the sense of smell. Changes in nutrition caused worse smell. This also led to malnutrition.

Researchers have also linked olfactory impairment to neurodegenerative disorders. Physicians’ proactive identification of odor problems in frail patients “could allow interventions to mitigate the expected effects as needed,” the experts concluded.

Myasnikov explained that in this case we are not talking about the coronavirus, in which olfactory senses often disappear. We are talking about “unreasonable” decrease, which is a sign of hidden pathological processes in the body.

Reference: Loss of smell has a negative impact on quality of life, sometimes even leading to clinical depression. In addition, the sense of smell warns a person about dangers – smoke from a fire, a gas leak in the house or spoiled food. The taste of food also depends largely on the sense of smell, and without it, food is just a way to suppress the feeling of hunger.

We told before that the doctor called fatal diseasescaused by “bad” cholesterol.
