Ugandan minister survives attack, daughter and driver killed | Abroad

Wamala, a former army general, was injured by the bullets. The car he was in was badly damaged. An army spokesman said the minister was taken to hospital.

Images on social media show Wamala covered in blood next to his car. The car is full of bullet holes and casings are on the floor.

It is not yet clear who is behind the attack. In Uganda there have been more attacks on drivers in recent years. A member of parliament, a senior police chief, an important Islamic cleric and one of the country’s top prosecutors have already been killed. The perpetrators are often not found and a motive is usually unknown.
