Uganda will supply electric cars to the sanctions-plagued Russian auto market

Uganda announced its availability for those affected by Western sanctions of Russia to supply its electric cars to the automotive market. The state-owned company “Kiira Motors” is engaged in the development and production of electric cars in Uganda, offering various car models. In addition, Uganda will sign an agreement with Russia’s KamAZ for the construction of a joint factory in Africa for the production of trucks.

For now, the Ugandan state company “Kiira Motors” offers the electric car “Kiira EV”, presented in 2011. It is a two-seater electric car for city traffic, whose circulation is ensured by an electric motor from 26 horses. Such a vehicle can accelerate up to 100 km / h, but with a full battery charge it can cover a distance of up to 80 km.

The “Kiira Motors” model family also includes the “EV Smack” hybrid model as well as the iconic “Kiira EVS” class sedan with internal combustion engine.

Earlier, it was reported that in the near future Iranian-made cars will also arrive on Russian roads: Iranian carmaker “Iran Khodro” has announced its desire to enter this new car market. Alike “AvtoVAZ“they are negotiating for the assembly of foreign cars in their factories – it is not yet known whether they will become partners Iran or China, because Western carmakers left the market of the attacking country after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
