Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Fighter UFC light heavyweight Anthony Smith made a shocking confession by mentioning Conor McGregor only this time making excuses after losing a fight.
McGregor lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 due to a broken left leg at the end of round 1. The Notorious were declared defeated because they could not continue the fight in round 2.
After the duel, McGregor admitted that he had fractured his leg before his fight with Poirier. However, this reason is considered by many as an excuse from the Irish fighter after two consecutive defeats to Poirier.
Related to this, Anthony Smith said McGregor had never made excuses after losing fights in previous matches.
Everyone who loses must have a reason. It’s new for Conor to be like that [banyak alasan],” said Smith quoted from Low Kick MMA.
However, Smith denied that the imperfect condition was a factor that made McGregor lose to Poirier.
In the eyes of Anthony Smith, every fighter enters the octagon with conditions that are not 100 percent prime. However, Smith understands those who support McGregor’s reasons.
Each of us, every fighter, no one can say they entered mereka [octagon] with 100 percent healthy,” said Smith.
“So, the reason is him [kalah karena cedera sebelum duel] invalid for me. “To the general public it makes sense that people would agree with that reasoning, but Conor knows we can’t all be paid, because we’re injured too.”
