UEMOA: the Council of Territorial Communities in extraordinary GA

An Extraordinary General Assembly of the Council of Territorial Communities of UEMOA
(CCT-UEMOA) will be held on August 21 and 22, 2023, at the Pullman hotel in Abidjan, in Côte
of ivory. On the menu of this special session the assessment of the achievements of the Organ in a decade and will proceed to the
renewal of its authorities. Perspectives and priority actions of the institution
will also be at the heart of discussions, with a view to setting new objectives for the four
coming years.

As a reminder, the Council of Territorial Communities is an advisory body of WAEMU
created by Additional Act No. 02/CCEG/UEMOA/2011 of May 30, 2011 of the Conference of
Heads of State and Government. Its main mission is to ensure the participation of
local and regional authorities to achieve the objectives of the Union.
The CCT-UEMOA is made up of 48 representatives of local authorities, i.e. 06 per
Member State, appointed by the associations of local authorities holding a mandate within
of a territorial collectivity resulting from an election by universal suffrage.

The current office is chaired since April 2012 by the Mayor of the Commune of Treichville in Abidjan François Albert AMICHIA.
