The Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), in collaboration with the African Union Mission for Mali and the Sahel (MISAHEL), is organizing, from September 19 to 21, 2023 in Ouagadougou, the 3rd edition of the Consultations on peace, security and development in border areas under the theme “Contribution of the private sector to the construction and consolidation of peace, security and development in cross-border areas”.
“This will involve deepening reflection on the role of the private sector in securing and developing border and cross-border areas, and making recommendations for concrete actions to strengthen this role” according to the UEMOA Communication Directorate.
This meeting will bring together, in particular, representatives of UEMOA member states, local elected officials, leaders of umbrella organizations of integrated areas, religious and customary authorities from border areas, youth and women’s associations as well as partners. technical and financial.
These consultations are being held after those of Sikasso (Mali) in 2019 and Korhogo (Ivory Coast) in 2021.
