According to information from the British daily The Guardian Released on Friday evening, UEFA has written to its member associations asking them to finish their championships by July 31. It was one of the dates already mentioned by the governing body of European football in a document of around fifty pages, the content of which had been revealed at the end of March by RMC Sport.
Use the month of August for European cups
An end to the domestic championships at the end of July would give UEFA free rein to place its remaining matches in the final stages of the Champions League and the Europa League, especially as the British press reported on Thursday that the date Saturday 29 August was planned for the C1 final in Istanbul. This would also allow the month of August to be used to play the qualifying matches for the 2020-2021 editions of the two European competitions.
For the moment, no calendar is yet official and all the reflections are subject to a positive evolution of the coronavirus pandemic. Several meetings are scheduled by UEFA during the week of 20 April to take stock of the competitions.
