Uefa renews PlaySation sponsorship for the Champions League until 2024

Uefa adds and go on. The governing body of European football signs the renewal of its sponsorship agreement with PlayStation for the next three seasons of the Champions League.

With this contract, Uefa extends its long-standing relationship with PlayStation, which started in 1997, for the cycle from 2021 to 2024. The agreement also includes sponsorship rights for the European Super Cup, the Youth League and the Futsal Champions League in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

“PlayStation has been a valued partner of the Uefa Champions League for more than 23 years,” says Guy-Laurent Epstein, Uefa’s marketing director, while highlighting the importance of these types of agreements for “the promotion of our competitions worldwide, and in particular in the digital space”.

As part of the alliance, PlayStation will sponsor the Player of the Match award at each Champions League match and the Player of the Week award through Uefa’s digital channels. In addition, it will continue to support the Federation’s digital games.

This is the seventh sponsorship agreement for the 2021-2024 cycle of the Champions League. PlayStation se suma a Heineken, PepsiCo, Mastercard, Gazprom y FedEx, who have renewed their support for the competition, to whose list of sponsors Just-Eat Takeaway has joined as a new partner.

The agreement with the Japanese company comes just days after Uefa has signed for three years with a new sponsor, Engelbert Strauss, as a partner of the Europa League and the newly launched Conference League until 2024.

The Uefa has accused the coup of the Covid-19. The European football body, which organizes the Eurocup and the Champions League, closed the 2019-2020 financial year, ended June 31, 2020, with a 21% drop in revenue compared to 2018-2019, to 3,038 million euros. The decline was largely due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced the competition to play its final rounds in a single territory and without an audience in the stands.
