UEFA decided to refuse Russian athletes to participate in tournaments. Sports correspondent Rob Harris reports.
“UEFA is abandoning its plan to lift its blanket ban on Russian football teams following a backlash,” Harris wrote on social media site X (formerly Twitter). He added that UEFA had not found any technical solutions to allow Russian teams to play.
On September 26, UEFA allowed Russian national teams with players under 17 years of age to compete under its auspices. Later, Ukraine, England, Poland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Lithuania refused to play in competitions involving Russians.
