The European Football Association (Uefa) states in a press release that a disciplinary case has been opened against the FA. There, the English fans are accused of the following violations:
* Banestorming
* Throwing objects
* Noise during playback of national anthem
* Use of pyrotechnics
It is UEFA’s control and disciplinary committee that will assess the case. What kind of punishment the FA can expect is uncertain. A fine will probably come, but it may also be relevant with stricter sanctions.
Uefa adds that there will be a separate investigation of the chaos outside and inside Wembley before kick-off. A large crowd of ticketless supporters tried to squeeze into the arena, and several of them succeeded.
Italy beat England in the penalty shootout in the European Championship final. The match itself ended 1-1.
