A while ago, there was a proposal from FIFA that would mean that the World Cup would be held every two years instead of every four years. The reason for this is that this would reduce the amount of national team breaks, while increasing the number of major championships.
It is now reported that the European Football Association UEFA is against this publisher, which is not entirely unexpected as this would mean that the World Cup would clash with the European Championships. Another objection to this proposal is that women’s football championships risk being overshadowed by so many major championships for men.
According to Reuters sources, the proposal will probably also encounter great opposition from the European club team organization ECA and the largest national leagues.
