Jelgava will host the Elite Round of the UEFA Indoor Football Champions League
At the end of November and the beginning of December, the Latvian champions “Riga FC” will play the Elite Round of the UEFA Indoor Football Champions League, taking on opponents from Spain, France and Italy.
At this stage of the tournament, the continent’s 16 strongest teams continue to participate in the competition. “Riga FC” will hold the Elite round tournament from November 29 to December 2 at the Zemgale Olympic Center in Jelgava. The opponents of the Latvian team will be the four-time Champions League winners “Barҫa” from Spain, the Italian champions “Cittá di Eboli” who also reached the Elite round last year, and “Étoile Lavalloise” from France, who are playing their debut season in the Champions League. The strongest team in the group will qualify for the “Final four” tournament scheduled for May.
The games will be held at the Zemgale Olympic Center on November 29 and 30 and December 2, with two matches each day. Until November 22, a day ticket will cost 10 euros, starting from November 23 – 15 euros. Tickets can be purchased here.
As the Latvian Football Federation informs, in August “Riga FC” won the 1st place in the preliminary round tournament held in Salaspils, and in October was the best in the main round competition in the Czech Republic. Last year, the club started under the name FC “Petrow/Jelgava” and reached the first round of the Champions League for the first time.
The last time Latvia was represented in the elite round was in 2016, when it was the team “Nikars”.
