The First Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Board (CFCB) has given the green light for six clubs to participate in European competition in 2023/24.
Among them are V. Guimarães and Aston Villa, who were under investigation due to the link between the two emblems through the V Sports fund, which owns the Premier League club and had announced the acquisition of 46 percent of the capital of SAD Minho .
In accordance with article 5 of the UEFA Club Competitions Regulations, no club participating in continental international competitions may own, be a member of or trade shares in another club that is also a participant in a European competition, and must also be involved in decisions of any nature in it.
In this sense, to avoid incompatibilities, the V Sports fund, after the publication of the new UEFA regulations, announced that it had reduced its stake in SAD from Guimarães to 29 percentwithdrew from the announced investment of 2 million euros in infrastructure and entrepreneurs Nassef Sawiris and Wesley Edens, owners of the organization, ceased to belong to the board of directors.
“After the implementation of significant changes by the clubs and their common investors, the First Chamber of the CFCB accepted the admission of the mentioned clubs in the UEFA club competitions for the 2023/24 season”, can be read in the decision published in this Friday.
Remember that V. Guimarães and Aston Villa qualified for the Conference League.
Still under investigation were links between Brighton & Hove Albion (England) and Sain-Gilloise (Belgium) and Milan (Italy) and Toulouse (France).
