In terms of the representativeness of nationalities, Senegal has the largest contingent with 5 players. Morocco and Algeria follow with three players each. Mali and Guinea have two players. Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Egypt, DR Congo, Nigeria and Central African Republic will each have a single representative in the 1/8 round of the Champions League.
Among all these African players involved, only three have already won the trophy. Senegalese Sadio Mané, Egyptian Mohamed Salah and Guinean Naby Kéita were all in the winning campaign with Liverpool in 2019.
