UEFA boss Ceferin against World Cup every two years

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has reiterated his opposition to a biennial World Cup. Such plans are a “no go” for everyone in football, said the Slovenian at the “Football Business Summit” event. FIFA also realized that this idea had no future, Ceferin claimed. He also spoke out in clear words against the still convinced supporters of a Super League.

According to media reports, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin are sticking to the basic plan of an independent league for top European clubs, but want to adapt it. “First they launched this nonsensical idea in the middle of a pandemic, and then every day we read that they want to launch another idea now – in the middle of a war,” Ceferin said. “Do I need to say more about these people? They obviously live in a parallel world.”

Twelve European clubs from England, Italy and Spain caused a stir and outrage in April 2021 when they announced their Super League plans. The competition would have been in direct competition with the UEFA Champions League. The project failed after nine clubs distanced themselves from the project.
