The National Film Archive of Chilein collaboration with the Diego Portales University School of Film and Audiovisual Production (UDP), will carry out the Film conferences: experiences around archives. The conference will bring together a wide range of professionals, including teachers, researchers, filmmakers, audiovisual archive experts, as well as undergraduate and graduate students. The aim is to promote the exchange of ideas and reflection on the role of cinema and archives, covering both theoretical and practical aspects and integrating the creation and dissemination of content based on these resources.
Marcelo Moralesdirector of the Cineteca Nacional de Chile, comments that “interest in audiovisual archives has grown significantly in recent years. The abundance of images invites us to reflect on their scope and the creative possibilities they offer. The moving image, with its evocative power, allows us to review and renew many of the stories and identities that have been repressed or made invisible. In these conferences, we want to not only bring together specialists, but also attract new audiences interested in working, creating and thinking through film archives.”
Alvaro Ceppidirector of the UDP School of Film and Audiovisual Production, highlights the value of this collaboration for academic training. ““Knowing the archive and audiovisual memory is essential for the training of our students, as it allows them to understand the historical and cultural contexts surrounding cinematographic creation, and to apply this knowledge to their own works. This alliance with the Cineteca Nacional de Chile enriches our academic offering and fosters a valuable exchange with experts and peers, inspiring our future filmmakers and researchers.”
The Jornadas sobre cine: experiencias en los archivos (Cinema Days: Experiences around Archives) will offer an unparalleled opportunity to explore and debate the crucial role of archives in the construction of audiovisual memory. The community is invited to participate in this event that promises to be an enriching space for learning, reflection and creation in the field of cinema and its multiple interactions with the past and present.
