Udinese general manager Franco Collavino spoke to Sky Sport after Saturday’s events during the match against Milan, with the racist insults aimed at Mike Maignan which continue to cause discussion even today.
In the past few hours, FIFA president Gianni Infantino had had his say on the matter, explaining how from his point of view “a defeat by default for the club whose fans become the protagonists of such gestures” could be useful.
This is Collavino’s thought in response to this consideration: “The default defeat could open up other problems, especially regarding the integrity of the competitions, such decisions would have effects from a sporting point of view and there would be a risk of speculation, exposing the clubs to more violent than the curves. For me it is enough to rigorously apply the rules, there are measures that can be used, such as the removal of the responsible people. And then we need to continue to dialogue, bring the players into schools, try to transmit experiences and the values of sport by involving families too.”
