This Thursday night, the University of Concepción Campus Chillán closed the activities of the 2024 Summer School, with an outdoor concert led by the Symphony Orchestra of the university and the national singer-songwriter Nano Stern.
The cast and the composer presented a production titled “Nueva Canción Chilena” at the Chillán Campus of the UdeC, a work that took a year to create and which will premiere in 2023. Not only were songs orchestrated, but an original work of Víctor Jara with the support of Stern.
The concert consisted of two parts. In the first, the new work was presented, the last three verses of the letter left by Víctor Jara in the Stadium that today bears his name, moments before his death, translated into the language of the tenth, constituting four movements, starting with the overture.
Then, in the second part, works were performed in tribute to the New Chilean Song, with names such as Isabel Parra, Patricio Manns, Charo Cofré, Congreso, Rolando Alarcón and Violeta Parra, in addition to folklore tradition, where a dialogue will be established between the soloist and the symphonic world.
The public, as always, responded to the melodies of the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Concepción, which had not performed in Chillán since the 2023 Christmas Concert.
The Summer School of the University of Concepción had this year workshops, talks, exhibitions, in addition to the presentation of the astronomer José Maza, who last Monday presented his talk “The Moon” at the Chillán Campus.
