UCR: «The eradication of animal traction requires political decision, not speculation»

The UCR councillors of the capital responded to statements made by deputy Rodrigo Ocampo regarding the ban on horse traction. “During the last 8 years, the different Peronist governments of the city of Resistencia have talked about banning and eliminating horse traction, but it has always remained a mere wish,” they said.
The councillors pointed out that “there was never a real political will to carry it out” and recalled that “when Capitanich was mayor, his political boss, the same thing happened.”
“Although there is an ordinance in force in Resistencia that prohibits horse traction, the outgoing government did very little to implement it,” they stressed.
The UCR bloc stressed that “they always had all the necessary tools to resolve this problem.”
“We applaud the search for approval of this project at the provincial level, since the current government is taking concrete measures to eradicate animal traction in Resistencia,” they said, noting: “These actions include solutions for both the human and social aspect, as well as for the protection of animals.”
“Hypocrisy and demagogy must be stopped; it is now easy to insist on approving a project, after years of ignoring the problem,” they stressed.
“Banning for the sake of banning does not solve the problem,” they stressed, concluding: “This is not just a road issue, but fundamentally a human and social issue.”
“The solutions we are proposing are not mere simulations or improvised actions; we seek to put an end to this situation in a serious manner,” they stressed, reiterating: “We want this decision to be a state policy so that no one in the future can turn back.”
“For this reason, we also propose replacing the animal traction system through effective interventions in municipal liabilities and other viable regulations,” they stressed.
