UCLouvain hardens its device and prepares for distance courses

The coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic is turning our habits upside down. At UCLouvain, we are now preparing to provide distance courses to limit the spread of the disease. All teachers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the distance learning options. But those who wish can already test the device, provided they make sure that the students are properly informed of the modalities.

In addition, the Rectoral Council took a series of additional measures on Wednesday. Study trips organized by the faculties are postponed or canceled until at least April 19, as are Erasmus stays. Professional travel abroad by staff members is prohibited.

Colloquia, conferences or congresses organized by the UCLouvain are also canceled until April 19 at least, regardless of the number of participants.

Telework and conference calls

In the workplace, the UCLouvain recommends maintaining a physical distance of one meter between people. Non-essential meetings should be postponed. And for meetings held, conference calls are preferred. Finally, the university encourages telework.

After the appearance of two confirmed cases of coronavirus and one suspected case on the Louvain-la-Neuve campus, the UCLouvain had already announced on Tuesday the suspension of all the evenings of the circles, regional and hot spots.
