UBS will bring over 50% of its applications to Microsoft Azure

The alliance between companies has been expanded and will also involve the joint development of solutions and sustainability.

Microsoft and UBS they expanded their alliance with the aim of promoting adoption of the public cloud from the Swiss financial services company, something they will work on hand in hand for the next five years.

UBS has implemented a “cloud-first” strategy and has already moved a third of its applications to the public cloud. It will now make Azure its primary cloud platform by taking over 50% of their applications to the Microsoft cloud, including critical workloads.

UBS will have access to a wide range of productivity and collaboration tools to enhance the digital experiences of employees and customers.

“Our cloud strategy has profoundly changed the way we operate, enabling us to strengthen our technology assets and reinvent the creation of apps for our customers,” said Mike Dargan, Chief Digital & Information Officer, UBS Group.

“Our close partnership and collaboration with Microsoft has created and will continue to create extraordinary value,” he says. “The advances and lessons that come from this alliance will benefit the financial services industry and others as well.”

In addition to the modernization of its technology infrastructure and the consumption of cloud services, the partnership between UBS and Microsoft covers joint development of solutions, reduction of emissions carbon and compliance with safety regulations. Together they are already exploring the use of artificial intelligence.

Microsoft introduced Azure Confidential Computing services in Switzerland to support internal data sharing between UBS business divisions.

This company should leverage the Microsoft Power Platform for business applications, automated workflows, and data connections.

UBS is already partnering with GitLab on service-oriented software development as part of its journey to the cloud to increase quality and reduce time-to-market.
