Members of the National Unity Party walked to the Atatürk Monument with banners and black and purple balloons in their hands, in front of the UBP Kyrenia District Headquarters Building on Atatürk Street, and laid a wreath at the Atatürk Monument.
UBP Kyrenia Women’s Branch President Fatoş Ünal emphasized that they organized the event to raise awareness on 25 November, the Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and noted that they said no to all kinds of violence.
Stating that they are against violence not only against women and children, but also against all living creatures, Ünal emphasized that violence is an act that does not suit any living creature in the world.
Pointing out that it is the mothers, that is, women, who give birth to and raise men who tend to be violent, Fatoş Ünal stated that women have a great duty and responsibility in this struggle.
Ünal said that they wanted to give the message that the world should be filled only with love and understanding in the event they held to say no to violence and raise awareness on this issue, and expressed his belief that the world will heal with love and understanding and become a more beautiful place.
After the speech, participants of the event released black and purple balloons into the sky, which are the symbol colors of the fight against violence against women.
