Ubisoft Unveils Free Battle Royale Game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline – Gaming – News

Ubisoft announces first-person shooter Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline, a free battle royale with elements from other genres. The game will be released at an unannounced date for Windows, Stadia, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline will be the first battle royale in Tom Clancy’s universe, although the game also uses elements that are not standard within the subgenre. For example, players in teams with two fellow players compete for intel and they must try to leave the map alive with it. Other players can steal the necessary extraction helicopter to make their own way with the loot. So there are multiple ways to win in the respective Expedition mode, while battle royale games typically require players to stay alive last. In addition, teams consist of a variety of Contractors, individual soldiers with their own skills, weapons and gadgets.

In addition to the main battle royale mode, Frontline also offers other game modes, reports Tweakers editor Jurian Ubachs after a presentation from Ubisoft. In Control Mode, two teams of nine players compete for control of certain areas. Once again the Contractors, each with their own skills and playing possibilities, play an important role.

Ghost Recon Frontline will be playable during an open beta test later this month, although it is not yet known which platforms will have access to the game. A final release date has not yet been announced.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline is technically the first free battle royale game within the Ghost Recon universe. Ubisoft, on the other hand, previously released a free game called Ghost Recon Online, later transformed into Ghost Recon Phantoms. This multiplayer shooter was released after more than four years taken offline. Last summer was Tom Clancy’s XDefiant announced. Again it was a free-to-play multiplayer shooter, this time more competitive and with elements of Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and The Division mixed together. Finally, in 2020, the French publisher made a first attempt at the popular batteroya genre with the free game Hyper Scape. That title could live up to Ubisoft’s expectations in their own words not live up to and has been under redevelopment for a year now.
