Ubisoft unveiled new Tom Clancy shooter

This week, Ubisoft was able to showcase XDefiant, a new free game under the ever-growing Tom Clancy umbrella.

XDefiant offers matches between two teams of six players, and the experience seems to land somewhere between Counter-Strike and Overwatch. Here you will find realistic shooting, but also various characters with special abilities – such as the ability to set up shields or heal teammates.

As Ubisoft reports, XDefiant borrows items from a number of other Tom Clancy games. Mostly it seems to be about the game’s factions, which include Cleaners from The Division and Wolves from Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.

XDefiant is developed for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S. The game has not been given an official release date, but the developer says that it will come pretty soon.

In the meantime, the team is planning a series of beta tests, and da first of these goes off the stack on August 5th. This is admittedly only available to those in the US and Canada, but interested players can register via the game’s website to get the chance to join future test phases.
